"There is a myth that martial arts is all about violence, but it's the opposite," Davidson said. "We want all our children to have some sort of protection."
Davidson said he has seen children gain confidence through classes at the academy where they learn how to not only defend themselves in threatening situations, but how to deal with the situations afterwards.
The open house will be the first of an annual event, and Davidson hopes to see around 100 people attend. It will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
