As part of a worldwide initiative, Seung-ri WTTU Black Belt Academy in White Rock will hold a child the abduction prevention.
The academy is a branch of the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) which, in partnership with AMBERAlert.com, designated September as Child Safety Month.
The month has been adopted by ATA academies around the world, including in the U.S., Korea, and around Europe and South America.
Located at 1430 Johnston Rd., Seung-ri will hold an open house tomorrow (Saturday) to create awareness around child abduction prevention and child bullying through its Kidz 'n Power child safety program.
Children can learn self-defense through simple breakaway techniques, role-playing with possible stranger dangers and methods to deal with bullies.
Families will receive a child ID kit including fingerprint packets, dental charts an d DNA samples, which can be used by law enforcement officials in the event of a child abduction.
Lorne Davidson, chief instructor at the academy, said the open house is free for all ages, and the local RCMP will be present to share other safety tips.
The Seung-ri WTTU Black Belt Academy teaches the martial art of Songahm Taekwondo, which promotes courage, discipline and integrity.
